Tree Cutting On the Almond

Forums:

I was out kick sampling the other day and at the Alderstone Road site the council (I suppose) have been very busy ripping up the riverbank, removing trees and generally making a mess. The site is being made ready for house building which was strongly campaigned against by local members of the Almond Action group. I'm not sure why they have taken the trees away from the riverbank itself, maybe it was deemed a flood risk ??, sadly a great fish holding area has been wrecked although access may have been improved. Additional planting seems to have been done but of what sort I'm not sure.

Stocking rivers with trout for fishing

The link above is to a survey carried out by the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust and supported by the Wild Trout Trust, The British Trout farmers Restocking Association and Members of various angling associations. The survey would seem to suggest that there are no adverse effects on wild fish caused by stocking.
