Upcoming fly fishing & fly tying workshops provided by West Lothian Angling Association & Artlink in partnership with West Lothian Council & Almondell Country Park Ranger Service. This workshop will be held over five sessions and is best suited to beginners in fly fishing or fly tying although experienced anglers are welcome, equipment will be provided however if you have your own fly fishing gear that would be the best option.

Allandale Tarn is fishing well regardless of all the fine weather we're finally having!

The first few hours in the mornings & also the last 5 or 6 hours in
the evenings are still the most productive, but the afternoons are still
providing some nice sport again, especially when the cloud cover comes over. Best flies are still the likes of skinny Blakestone buzzers, spiders,
foam beetles & emerger CDC's for earlier in the day & later at

The WLAA Riverside BBQ has been cancelled due to the current condition of the river and with more rain on it's way it's not looking like BBQ weather. Some of the guys will still be going down the village tonight for a social meeting so if you were planning to go to the BBQ and would like to meet up with members we will be down the river at around 18:30 and heading to the Livi Inn around 19:00.

The BBQ will be rearranged for a later date.

After recent security issues with Harperrig Fisheries website they have updated there site and it's now back on-line and in good shape. The Harperrig reservoir fishery profile has been republished and will be updated to reflect any new information available.

For anyone who wants some brown trout only reservoir fishing in West Lothian Harperrig is about as good as it gets.

Good evening all!

The backshifts have been fishing so well & with the fish bubbling again as the skies start to darken, as of this Friday night, the 3rd, Allandale Tarn will be open until 10pm for fishing every night!..          White CDC Yellow Owls, Caenis, blue Dunn nymphs, sedges & daddies working best for in the evenings. During the day cats whiskers, diawl bachs, sedges & darker shuttlecock CDC's are all proving too tempting for the trout!

We can now accept postal membership applications, full details can be obtained by e-mailing the Chairman and requesting an application form. We hope that this will make it easier for new members to join the association.

On 30th April provisional membership of WLAA will expire, if you have not upgraded your membership you will lose all benefits of membership including permission to fish WLAA waters. All provisional membership accounts will be removed from our database at 6pm tomorrow.

Please note: it is now a requirement to be a WLAA member or be in possession of a valid day permit to fish the River Almond between Kirkton Weir and Clifton Aqueduct.

Due to a few cancellations, there are now  2 spots available for the Allandale preliminary heat of the SANA
Bank National this Saturday thel 16th. Fishing begins 9am!
A minimum of the first 6 top rods
will qualify from Allandale due to the high number of entrants for this heat
to date!..

Full membership of the association is now being made available on-line, additional application forms will be made available shortly for people wishing to join off-line.

On 28th March 2011 the West Lothian Angling Association was formally Established. At an open public meeting held at Livingston Station Community Centre the new angling association Constitution, Rules & Regulations, Membership Fees and Lease were all voted through. Over the next week full membership will be made available to both current provisional members and new members through the association website: http://wlaa.uinfix.co.uk
